Oooh--one product recommendation: for diaper cream, invest in a tub of Boudreaux's Butt Paste--it works really well and it smells nice, kind of herbal instead of too medicinal.
I wish someone had told us we didn't need so damn many newborn-sized diapers. Our little guy outgrew them in less than a week.
If you decide to circumcise, be sure to have lots of gauze and petroleum jelly on hand. We went through a lot of that stuff post-circ. :P
We took an outfit for him to wear home from the hospital, but we were so anxious to get out of there and we felt he was so fragile (even at 8+ pounds) that we just left him in the hospital t-shirt. I hope you're more motivated than we were.
Good luck!
you can acquire some things post birth. honest. i remember feeling like I *had* to have everything. RIGHT NOW. I think i drove my husband a little nuts because that meant I had to have it and he had to go ge tit.
but you don't need it all lined up. baby shampoo etc, for example. you may not really need that for a week or two. you won't get to bathe him until his belly button (and circ, if you do that) are healed.
anyway. i so know this feeling.
here i go with the unsolicited advice :)
